The “hidden garden” of the Musée des Archives Nationale in early September.
A quiet place to retreat to while exploring the popular Marais section of Paris.
I particularly liked the row of wire grid columns just inside the entrance from Rue des Quatre-Fils. They enclosed upright pyracantha bushes and were underplanted with fountain grass.
Cindy, may I use your photos of the lipsticked lady and the caged plants in a talk or blog post? I would credit you, of course.
Absolutely, yes. It was quite a nice garden, and I never knew it was there.
Thank you.
why the cage I wonder?
Is it to stake the form of the pyracantha?
Or a design statement?
It’s to create a row of tall, narrow cubes of pyracantha. I think the shrubs will eventually mostly fill up the wire supports. They are placed in front of some large modern ground floor windows, and they must create a sense of privacy for those inside without actually blocking all the view.
Grass, gravel and pleached trees – my idea of perfection.
