The Sunday porch: Zion Rd.

“Lafayette Hill,” Zion Road, Albemarle County, Virginia, 1933, by Frances Benjamin Johnston, via Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find out anything about this interesting-looking house.

  1. Cindy, I showed the photo of the “interesting-looking house” on Zion Rd, Albemarle Co., to my sister who knows the area well. She wondered if it was, or had become, a duplex. That doesn’t make sense to me since it looks like it is out in the country. But a thought.

    1. What look like two front doors do make the house look like a duplex. I wonder if it could have been shared by two siblings and their families? I also wondered if it could have once been a tavern/inn.

      1. I had the same thought about siblings — possibly sibs who didn’t speak to each other. The idea of a tavern is an interesting possibility. And don’t you love these puzzles? I know I do.
