One hollyhock plant came up among the pole beans and kale in our vegetable garden.
It started blooming last week.
Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day is the 15th of every month. To see what’s blooming today in other bloggers’ gardens, visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens.
If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly our whole life would change.

Beautiful!! I love this old fashioned beauty! Fabulous photo, Cindy. It reminds me of crumpled crepe paper!!
I was thinking that too.
For these two photos, I opened the image on iPhoto and then — with the ‘Effects’ buttons — clicked up the ‘Fade’ and ‘Boost’ to 3 and 6. Then I heightened the definition and sharpness, and increased the blue and pink just a little. It’s still a white hollyhock bloom, but the texture and effects of light are enhanced.
Quite an unusual hollyhock: love the see-through look at the base of the petals.
The plant is a rather ordinary white hollyhock, but when you get up close the textures in any flower are amazing.
How unexpected to see a January Hollyhock. it looks so delicate and fragile. It’s beautiful.
I feel almost embarrassed to post it, since most Bloom Day participants are looking at frozen ground. But I live in Rwanda where it is between 75 and 85 degrees F all the time.
How beautiful! I love hollyhocks. Happy (belated) New Year!
To you too! How good to hear from you. I check in with your blog from time to time. I hope you can tell us about your garden this spring. (Although I know it can be hard to find the time.)
Gorgeous
Thanks! Happy new year. I hope your wrist has healed up well.
