Is there a connection to the Labatut house in Point Coupee parish?
I don’t know, but a quick Google search hints that the Labatuts were probably an important family in Louisiana for generations. The first one came over in 1781 and was Attorney-General under the Spanish regime and then Treasurer of the city of New Orleans under France. (Labatut is also a department in southwest France, I found.)
